Joined the band because my brother plays bass, and they decided they couldn’t play and sing at the same time! -
I love all music, especially musical theatre, and regularly perform at our local theatre in Peterborough. Love Eva Cassidy, she had a great voice. -
I got to the final of Peterborough’s Got Talent competition in 2008 as a solo singer, doing musical theatre stuff. -
Singing with the band is very different from theatre performance, but I really enjoy it, and like writing the lyrics for our own songs. Bass player – “Beagle” Sam Beagley -
Wanted to learn the drums, but Mum wouldn’t let me! Mainly self-taught. -
Love rock/indie and some old skool punk. Listen to Greenday, MCR, Enter Shikari. Recently went to see Stiff Little Fingers ! -
Met all of the lads at our local rugby club as we all play for the same team and decided to form a band to entertain the rest of the squad at one of our socials and it grew from there. -
I am sadly very clumsy and when I grow up I want to rule the world !!!! Drummer - Chris Ogden -
I have been drumming for 8 years and have been gigging around Peterborough since I was 13. -
I love music and listen to many artists, especially like Arctic Monkeys and Oasis. -
I work part-time in a music shop, which together with studying for Grade 7 drumming allows me to experience and play many different types of music. -
This has encouraged me to follow my dream and go onto Music College in the future, to study to be a professional drummer, so get your autographs now! -
My drumming influences are Matt Helders (Arctic Monkeys), Steve White (Paul Weller) and many more including local drummers around Peterborough. Rhythm guitar - Alex Lenton -
Wanted to play guitar in a band since I was little, and now I do! -
I like all kinds of music but mainly things with good guitar in it, ranging from metal, like Killswitch Engage to solo artists like Damien Rice. -
I met the rest of the Band at rugby where I’ve been playing since I was 4 and from there some of us decided to form a band. At the time I had a broken arm and so I joined a little later than the others. -
I’m pretty forgetful and out of the band I have the worst memory for remembering gig dates and things but I always get there in the end! Notes #1 The Voyager School in Peterborough, which has specialist media arts status, hosts an annual “Battle of the Bands”. It aims to showcase the best young musical talent from across the Peterborough area. Musicians have to be aged between 12 and 25 and compete in a live performance, scrutinised by a panel of four star judges from the music industry. The judges in 2008 included two from The Lightyears, winners of the “Best Rock and Pop Act” at the 2007 INDY Awards and who have appeared at Glastonbury.
#2 The Sapphire Club is a music venue in Peterborough. Competition was open to all ages.
